🎓The First Week of College: A New Beginning for Students and Parents

The first week of college can bring a whole mix of emotions. Excitement, nervousness, homesickness, independence, and maybe even a little uncertainty.

First year students are learning how to manage classes, schedules, roommates, friendships, meals, laundry, and everyday responsibilities without the structure they're used to at home.

As the owners of ACE Tutoring and parents of a first year college student ourselves, we're experiencing this transition from both sides.

For parents, one of the hardest parts can be knowing when to step in and when to step back. Instead of immediately solving a problem, try asking:
“What do you think would be a good way to handle it?”

Sometimes the best support isn't having the answer. It's listening, encouraging your student to think through the situation, and reminding them that you're there if they need you.

College is a new beginning for students and their families. Give everyone time to adjust, be patient with the process, and celebrate the small steps toward independence. ❤️

We had a wonderful time celebrating Father's Day this past weekend with proud papa Steve and Ariana's incredible audition coach, Jeffrey Ingman.

As President of the Mission Hills High School Interact Club, Ariana and her fellow student leaders have dedicated countless hours to serving our community. Their initiatives have included volunteering at the San Diego Food Bank, organizing service projects, and leading the current World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser to support future community service efforts. 🍫🤝🌎

Cap is turning her passion into action 💚🌎
As President of the Mission Hills HS Interact Club (Rotary’s youth program), she’s leading an Earth Day fundraiser that brings together community service and environmental care, with the support of an amazing team of student volunteers.

Through The World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser, Interact members are raising funds for local service projects and global Rotary initiatives. Cap also added a sustainable element, gathering succulents from our garden and creating planters from recycled cans included as part of the fundraising bundles 🌱♻️
