TXST San Marcos Student Reading Council

TXST San Marcos Student Reading Council The Reading Council at Texas State is an organization dedicated to promoting literacy.

This student organization is affiliated with the Texas Association of Literacy Education (TALE). Students who join the Reading Council also become members of TALE and have the option to join the International Reading Association at the student rate. Membership in the Reading Council provides multiple opportunities to enhance leadership skills, which include: presenting at and attending local, stat

e and national conferences; opportunities to connect and share ideas with other university student reading councils; and planning/implementing community service projects. The Reading Council provides aspiring teachers the chance to fellowship with other like-minded students. At the Reading Council meetings students hear experienced teachers and highly-qualified speakers who address topics such as classroom diversity, literacy pedagogy, reading across the curriculum, and student motivation.
