Our Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students recently put their skills into action during their Pediatrics Lab, creating and implementing individualized interventions for their pediatric patients based on previous assessments.
From improving fine motor skills to supporting developmental milestones through play-based activities, our students are gaining the hands-on experience that prepares them to make a meaningful impact in children’s lives.

Layering lasagna = layering clinical skills!🧑🍳
Our Occupational Therapy Assistant students took over the ADL (Activities of Daily Living) lab today, but weren’t just making a delicious lunch. They were diving deep into meal preparation interventions for different patient case studies!🧠💪
How does cooking lasagna translate to occupational therapy? It’s all about adapting the task to the client:
- Energy Conservation: Planning prep steps for a patient with COPD or chronic fatigue.
- Cognitive Sequencing: Breaking down a multi-step recipe for a client recovering from a traumatic brain injury, or living with dementia.
- Adaptive Equipment & Physical Ergonomics: Practicing one-handed cutting techniques or using built-up utensils for a post-stroke or arthritis patient.
Occupational Therapy Assistant school is all about turning everyday activities into powerful tools for independence!
