Austin Business Journal has named TXST President Kelly Damphousse its 2026 CEO of the Year.

The recognition comes during a period of significant growth at TXST, including record enrollment of more than 47,000 students, doubling research expenditures over the past three years and 32 new degree programs.

We are incredibly grateful to Eric and Candice Hays and the entire Hays Electrical Services team for their transformational investment in Texas State and their belief in our student-athletes.

Their commitment represents the largest capital projects gift in Texas State Athletics history and will directly support the construction of the University Fieldhouse and the Softball and Baseball Performance Center.

Texas State University is launching the Presidential Scholars Program, a new competitive scholarship for high-achieving Texas students.

The four-year award covers tuition and fees, includes a study abroad semester and a $1,000 undergraduate research stipend, and provides on-campus housing and a meal plan for the first year. 24 incoming freshmen will be selected across TXST’s seven academic colleges.

The program will launch for the Fall 2027 semester, with a Dec. 15, 2026 application deadline.
