Letter from the Owner/Head Teacher of BMA:

Hello,
My name is Rudie Lynn Bustamante and I am a Texas State University alumni with a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) with a minor in Spanish and a proficiency in Music Theory and Piano. I offer music lessons for students and adults of ages 5 and up. I teach the following instruments: Violin, Guitar, Piano, and Voice. I also offer Music Theory lesson

s for students who wish to prepare for the entrance Music Theory exams in their desired Univerisity/College. Bio:
I am originally from Zapata, Texas and graduated from Zapata High School in May of 2010. During my 4 years of high school, I was under the direction of Adrian Padilla and Oscar Martinez, as well as mentored by Dr. Rachel Cruz. I was an active violinist and vocalist for the International and National Award Winning Mariachi, Mariachi Halcón, where I was given many opportunities to expand my knowledge in mariachi music as well as act as an ambassador to advocate for mariachi education in and out of state. After high school, I went on to pursue my musical career at the University of Texas Pan-American (now known as University of Texas Rio Grande Valley). During my time at UTPA/UTRGV, I accomplished the following:

• Violinist and Vocalist in Mariachi Aztlan’s sister group, Mariachi Juvenile
• Alto Vocalist in the University Choir
• Represented UTPA at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Vocal Competition 2011
• President and Musical Director of a student organization known as Choral Intensity Show Choir

In June 2014, I transferred to Texas State University to continue my academic career in the Latin Music Studies program. During my time there, I was a member of Mariachi Nueva Generación, University Singers, and the Founder/President of a student organization, Association of Latin Music Appreciation (ALMA). During my time at Texas State, I have been under the direction of Dr. Johnathan Babcock, Dr. Matthew Oltman, Dr. Joey Martin, Mr. John Lopez, Ms. Michelle Quintero, and Mr. Miguel Guzman. These professors are some of the very best, well-respected Latin and Choral Music experts in the country. Ms. Quintero in particular is the Vocal Teacher for Sebastian de la Cruz (El Charro de Oro), which in my experience has made it a great honor to be under her direction as one of her students. As a violinist and vocalist of Mariachi Nueva Generación, I have accomplished the following:

• The only vocal finalist representing Texas State University at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Vocal Competition 2014
• Competed in the group competition of the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza 2014 and 2015 (in which we won 1st place Fall 2014 and 2nd place in 2015)
• Opening act for Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán
• Perform and teach various workshops at schools in and out of state
• Perform at local and state mariachi events
• Tour the West Coast by starting in Las Vegas, then to Los Angeles, and all the way up the coast to San Francisco, stopping in various cities in between to perform and promote latin music education.
• Perform with Grammy Award Winning, Mariachi Sol de Mexico at their famous Cielito Lindo Restaurant
• Level 1 Instructor for Texas State University’s Youth Mariachi Program, Mariachi Infantil

In my position, I will help to ensure that students use their talents to build self-confidence, connect with the art and culture of mariachi and classical music, and achieve their goals as a musician. Musically,
Rudie Lynn Bustamante

Good afternoon,
This page is currently under construction, as you can see, and will be known as Pacheco Mariachi Studio (just waiting on Facebook to change the name if they haven’t already).

This post is to let future and past clients know that I have made myself available for virtual lessons in voice, violin, piano, and guitar, as well as in-person consulting for mariachi programs. I’m also offering services in arranging and transcribing music, as well as creating learning content for mariachi education.

For the virtual lessons, it is preferred, but not required, that the student already have some experience in music. If your student is preparing for a performance or competition of some sort, I am willing to attend an in person rehearsal once or twice a month to help their performance, whether it be in the RGV, San Antonio/Austin area, or my hometown of Zapata.

-Rudie Lynn
