Are y’all ready for the first ACE Community Connect Series of the Fall semester?? 😁🎉

Lead by our wonderful ACE Counselor, Gwen, she is bringing some amazing things to you all for next weeks workshop! We will have CalFresh Social Workers available to meet with students and ask any questions about the application process- while also having an opportunity to make overnight oats 😋🤩.

We had an amazing time getting to show our deepest gratitude to our campus partners who play an essential role in the success of ACE Scholars at CSUSM. 📚💙🐾

Please welcome Gwen Ross, our new ACE Counselor!

Gwen comes to ACE with a strong background supporting students with foster care backgrounds in local community-based organizations including Foster the Earth 🥾🌍and Casa de Amparo🏠💟 and as a school social worker in the San Marcos Unified School District. Gwen is passionate about trauma-informed care, advocacy, and higher education access 🎓. She completed her master’s degree in social work from San Diego State University, post-master’s Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) program from San Jose State University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from CSUSM 🐾💙.

In her role with ACE, Gwen will be providing comprehensive academic, personal, and transitional counseling, case management, and programming to ACE Scholars and, most importantly, being part of your support network 🤞🤩.

Outside of work, Gwen is happiest near the ocean 🌊 , whether she is at the beach 🏖️ watching one of her boys surf, 🏄 out on a deep-sea fishing adventure 🎣 , or hiking 🥾 the trails of San Diego County with her dog 🐶, Poppy.

We will have an official meet-and-greet at the start of the Fall semester but feel free to stop by the ACE Center to say hi. 👋
