Dyslexia is not a vision problem. It's not about letters flipping on the page. And it has nothing to do with intelligence.

Dyslexia is a neurological difference in how the brain connects sounds to letters. That's why a dyslexic reader can be brilliant in conversation and still struggle to decode a paragraph.

Understanding what dyslexia actually is matters — because the wrong assumption leads to the wrong support. And every child (and adult) deserves the right kind of help.

This is one of the best-kept secrets in Texas, and it shouldn't be.

If you have dyslexia — diagnosed or suspected — you have the right to reasonable accommodations on your TDLR licensing exam. That can mean extended time, a reader, a private testing room, or a break schedule that works for your brain.

But the state needs documentation. A proper evaluation is the key that unlocks all of it. 🔑

We do these evaluations every week for tradespeople, cosmetologists, medical professionals, and more. If you've been putting off retaking that exam, this might be the piece you were missing.

School's back in session next week, and for a lot of families that means noticing something feels… off with reading. 📚

Here are 5 early signs worth paying attention to:
1. Trouble rhyming or hearing sounds in words
2. Slow, effortful reading even after months of practice
3. Avoiding reading out loud (or reading at all)
4. Strong verbal skills but weak spelling

Dyslexia isn't a matter of intelligence or effort — it's how the brain processes language. And early identification changes everything.
