It was great to welcome back our Grizzlies for their first days of school!

Our staff geared up in their "Less Is S'more" camping-themed t-shirts to welcome students back to our old campus on Grand Ave. While we're excited for the new building to come, we're also excited for the adventure ahead—making the most of our "camping" experience and forging ahead with JOY! ✨️

34 students, 3 days of warm-up, and 7 days of rehearsal led to this amazing performance of Madagascar: A Musical Adventure! This 2-week-long summer camp is one of our most beloved camp offerings—if you missed it this summer, grab a spot for next summer when sign-ups open in the Spring!

If you missed the Senior Project presentations in April, the recordings are well worth watching. It's the capstone research project for seniors, but for many, it's actually the culmination of years of learning at SLOCA.

If you have a Kindergartener, watch these.
If you have a middle schooler, watch these.
If you're a HS junior, watch these.

These presentations are not just about the snakes of SLO County or Star Wars or fixing cars—they are about integrated learning, virtue, and how studying the classics transforms the way we see the world. This is the type of learning we're after at SLOCA. This is what's ahead for you!

SLOCA families, did you receive your 2026 Summer Packet? In it, you will find a plethora of reading recommendations, including some required reads for our staff (we love when you read along with us), such as Beowulf, Hamlet, and The Arabian Nights. These are all books on our Beyond book list (bonus)! Additionally, there are many wonderful books to get you excited and prepped for next year's history cycle: medieval times!
