Hey Geology Club members! We will be having a meeting with the Earth, Soil, and Water Conservation Club tomorrow in building 180-107.
In case you haven't heard the news, we will be merging with the ESWCC into a new club, starting next Fall, called the Environmental Sciences Club! We will be hosting elections for the 2014-2015 academic year officers at the meeting tomorrow. If you are at all interested in a leadership position, come to the meeting! If you can't make the meeting, post it on here or in a PM and we'll put you name in the running. We'd like to have Geology Club representation in this club's leadership, so don't be shy!

Also, the dates are set for the ECC-exclusive Geology Backpacking trip next Fall! It will be the first weekend in October, October 3-5. We'll cover details at the meeting tomorrow.

Finally, as always, lunch will be provided. Hope to see you all there!

If you haven't already, VOTE on where you want your Guided Geology Trip with Poly Escapes to go!
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2NJGRQG

Poly Escapes is the outdoor leadership organization here on campus. We will be going on a trip with them next fall, exclusively for Geology Club Members! We will be going in-depth about the geologic history of the area we decide to go to. Plus, as with all Poly Escapes trips, gear, food, transportation, and (of course), guiding services will be provided! Trips range between $95-$110 (depending on location), which is a steal compared to what you will be getting. With this trip, you have the added luxury of having a say in where the trip will go, so vote now! Trips for next quarter are decided on this coming Thursday, so time is running out to vote.

Hello Geology Club,
I feel like I haven't seen you all since Pangea was still a thing. Can't wait for our first meeting. Anyway, there is something I need to get the ball rolling on before we have a chance to talk about it in person. I'm trying to compile a list of upper division geology students that would be interesting in tutoring Intro to Geology (GEOL 102) and Physical Geology (GEOL 201) students. If you are interested, please email [email protected] with the subject line "Geology Club Tutor" and your name, email, and phone number that intro students could use to contact you.
Rock on,
Amanda

Thanks to Will and Chris for presenting at our meeting today, and to everyone who came out for our first ever Rock Talk!...

You don't have to know a lot about them (although if you do, that's great!)
As always, free PB&J! Hope to see you all there.
