Former California Cadet Corps Staff Sergeant Micah Coupland was honored by the Palmdale City Council after stepping up during a medical emergency involving an injured child.

⭐Mayor of City of Palmdale - Government Eric Ohlsen praised Coupland's leadership, saying, "You stepped up, you took charge, you commanded the situation, you helped that person in need. You are a hero."

Leadership Military Academy is looking for a new Commandant to lead, mentor, and develop the next generation of student leaders.

While the position is listed as “Drill Instructor,” this role goes far beyond drill. Commandants teach leadership, character development, teamwork, citizenship, and support the full Cadet Corps experience through classroom instruction, events, and mentorship.

Watch the message from our Summer Encampment 2026 Reviewing Officer and keynote speaker, Marine Corps Veteran, Chief Warrant Officer 3 (Ret.) Amatangelo “AJ” Pasciuti.

Speaking to nearly 800 cadets and 400 parents at Camp San Luis Obispo, AJ shared lessons on leadership, purpose, teamwork, and how the small decisions we make today can change the trajectory of our future.

AJ reminded cadets that leadership is not defined by a title or position, but by the choices they make every day and the people they choose to become.

After 21 years of service in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry Weapons Officer (Marine Gunner), Reconnaissance Team Leader, and Scout Sniper, AJ continues his mission of developing young leaders and Veterans through speaking, mentorship, and storytelling.

He is also the author of “Darkhorse: Harnessing Hidden Potential in War and Life,” where he shares lessons about leadership, growth, and finding purpose through adversity.

Hey CACC Family,
Summer Encampment 2026 has officially come to a close!

First, we want to say thank you to every parent, guardian, school, and supporter who trusted us with your cadets over the past two weeks. We know you are excited to have them home, and we hope you see the growth, confidence, friendships, and leadership development they gained during their time at camp.

Experiences like Summer Encampment are about more than just the activities cadets participate in. They are about challenging students to step outside their comfort zones, work with others, solve problems, and discover what they are capable of achieving. These moments can change the trajectory of a student's life by helping them build confidence and take leadership with them wherever they go — college, careers, military service, or public service.

Below are the final photos from our 2026 Summer Encampment Pass in Review as we celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of our cadets.

We also have some additional photos still being submitted from several of our training units. Our Public Affairs Team will be working through those photos over the next week, and we look forward to sharing more memories from specific units soon.

At the conclusion of Summer Encampment 2026, cadets heard from our Reviewing Officer and keynote speaker, Marine Corps Veteran, retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 Amatangelo AJ Pasciuti .

AJ shared a message with cadets about leadership, overcoming doubt, building strong teams, setting their trajectory, and choosing the person they want to become.

𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗬
One of the many Career Technical Education opportunities at Summer Encampment 2026 is our Law Enforcement Unit (LEU), where cadets gain a firsthand understanding of the criminal justice system through hands-on, experiential learning.

The LEU curriculum goes beyond street-level law enforcement by introducing cadets to the complete legal process—from an initial investigation and arrest to courtroom procedures and the role of judges, attorneys, witnesses, and juries. Through a mock trial, cadets experience how each part of the justice system works together while developing critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and civic responsibility.

Hear from Army veteran, former law enforcement officer, and California Cadet Corps Alumnus Jacob Rodriguez, the Lead Instructor for the Law Enforcement Unit, as he explains why it's important for students to understand the full scope of the legal system, explore careers in public safety, and develop leadership and character through realistic, hands-on training.

You'll also hear from California State Guard Major Veronica Braxton, who helped lead the mock trial and provided cadets with insight into courtroom procedures and the legal process. Finally, hear from Cadet Corporal McCrillis, who shares what it was like participating in the mock trial and experiencing a courtroom setting from a cadet's perspective.

The California Cadet Corps is committed to helping students become informed citizens by connecting leadership, civic engagement, and career exploration through meaningful real-world experiences.
