Walt Disney Imagineering invites undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their skills and talents through the Imaginations Designs Competition. All finalist teams win an all-expense paid trip to our headquarters in California where they present their project to Imagineering executives, compete for awards and interview for internship opportunities!

Apply August 24th - October 16th 2026
Final Submission Deadline: November 19th 2026
Walt Disney Imagineering is the unique, innovative team that imagines, designs, and builds all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, cruise ships, real estate developments, and regional entertainment values worldwide.

Last month, the Cal Poly Game Development Club hosted their largest Game Jam in Cal Poly history! Over 50 students showed up to the Friday kickoff and groups made 22 unique games over the course of the weekend.

Seeing our students start the school year strong at CodeBox Hacks was inspiring. From big ideas to inventive uses of technology, Cal Poly students came together to design, build, and reimagine what digital tools can do.

The winning project turned photos of a whiteboard into an editable digital workspace, bringing the spontaneity and physicality of brainstorming into a digital space. Another project invited users to experience a city in a new way, helping them discover places and build a personalized city guide of their own.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in CodeBox Hacks, and thank you to CodeBox for helping bring Cal Poly student projects from ideas to reality.

From connecting over boba and game night to learning from industry professionals at the Astera Labs tech talk and making connections at their career fair, CPES continues to create opportunities for students to build community, explore the industry, and grow professionally.

Students from across the California State University system came together at the DxHub AI Summer Camp to develop innovative AI solutions for real-world challenges submitted by CSU campuses. Throughout the program, teams focused on creating applied, student-centered tools that could make a meaningful impact across higher education.

At the DxHub CCC Al Summer Camp, student teams worked with Colleges to design thoughtful, practical Al solutions for real needs. In the CCC track, teams tackled challenges submitted directly by community-college partners, with an emphasis on innovation, trust, safety, and student impact.
First place went to Team Eddie: Tamir Sood, Julia Shapoval, Angel Rodriguez, Svetlana Swidin, and Daniel Oliver.

Their challenge, submitted by Lemoore College: during the first week of school, 50% of calls to the student services center go unanswered-leaving students without timely support when deadlines matter most.

Their solution, Eddie, is an Al chatbot named after the Lemoore College mascot. Grounded in public college resources, Eddie gives students accurate answers 24/7, offers a user-friendly chat experience, and can also support students through an Al voice assistant. When a question falls outside its knowledge base, Eddie connects students to a human.

Welcome to the Noyce School of Applied Computing! 💻💚

During this year’s Week of Welcome, we welcomed more than 400 incoming first-year and transfer students to the Cal Poly computing community.

Student speakers Ally Stauffer and Hailey Morgan shared advice for navigating college and making the most of the opportunities ahead. Ally encouraged students to invest in their learning, get involved before they feel fully ready, and build relationships with classmates and faculty. Hailey highlighted the value of learning from upperclassmen, building a network, and drawing on their experiences—including her time working at Amazon’s San Luis Obispo location.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the welcome event possible. We’re excited to see what this new cohort will accomplish. Welcome, new Mustangs!

As our Noyce seniors graduate, we’re excited to highlight Arianna Wilde, a Computer Science student focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and her senior project, BabyAlbums.

New parents take thousands of photos, but turning those memories into meaningful albums can be time-consuming and overwhelming. BabyAlbums uses AI to generate personalized photo book layouts that feel like a journey through a child’s milestones while remaining easy to customize.

By combining AI tools like Claude and Gemini with thoughtful design and extensive testing, Arianna created a platform that generates unique, handcrafted-feeling albums at scale. Her project demonstrates how AI can be used not just to automate tasks, but to help families preserve their stories in a more personal and meaningful way.
