The mission of Firebird: Russian School of the Central Coast is to teach Russian language and culture to Russian families, mixed families and all those who are interested in learning more about this fascinating land and its people and its culture. Our vision is to create the first Russian cultural and educational center on the Central Coast open to everybody. Firebird is a warm, open place free from politics, creeds and doctrines where we celebrate the rich Russian cultural heritage, where children, students and parents can make friends and simply have a good time and where anyone interested in Russian culture and the language is welcome. We are passionate about promoting multilingualism and multiculturalism. Firefird offers the following courses:

-- Russian Language and Culture for Beginner and Elementary Levels for Adults (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages Levels A1-A2)

-- Russian Language and Culture for Beginner and Elementary Levels for Children (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages Levels A1-A2)

-- Russian Language and Culture for Russian-speaking Children:

All classes are conducted in the Russian language with the exception of Russian for Beginners, where both English and Russian are used. Classes are taught by talented and devoted teachers who have a special love teaching the Russian language and culture to students of all ages.

Dear Families, Friends and Students,

We hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing summer!

We are delighted to announce that the 2019 Fall Trimester at Firebird: Russian School of the Central Coast commences on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Firebird is offering the following classes for children and adults:

Classes for Adults (90 minutes):
1. Russian Language and Culture for Beginner, Elementary and Pre-Intermediate Levels: Saturdays, 1:10 p.m.– 2:40 p.m.

Classes for Children (100 minutes):
2. Russian Language and Culture for Beginner, Elementary and Pre-Intermediate Levels: Saturdays, 1:10 p.m.– 3:00 p.m.

3. Russian Language and Culture for Russian-Speaking Children: Saturdays, 1:10 p.m.– 3:00 p.m.

Children classes will have a break from 2:00 p.m. to 2:10 p.m.

In classic Russian fashion, we will have tea and Russian snacks to celebrate the beginning of Firebird’s new academic year on October 5 starting at about 3:00 p.m.. Feel free to bring a treat to share and bring a friend or two!

Enjoy these wonderful images from our joyful celebration of Women’s Day and Maslenitsa. Special thanks to the enthusiastic members of CalPoly Russian Student Association and World Languages Club for making this such a special and memorable event! After eating together delicious Russian food, our children recited poems dedicated to mothers and then we all had fun playing traditional Russian games.
