Future-Ready Transition Practices in Special Education
$24.00 [2.00 CE Hours]
Future-Ready Transition Practices in Special Education provides educators with essential knowledge and practical strategies for preparing students with disabilities for life beyond the K–12 school system. As expectations for college, careers, community participation, and independent living continue to evolve, transition planning must also adapt to ensure that students develop the skills, experiences, and confidence necessary for success in adulthood. This course explores how educators can design meaningful, student-centered transition plans that support diverse learners and lead to positive postsecondary outcomes. Participants will examine the legal foundations of transition planning, including requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and learn how to create high-quality transition components within Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The course also highlights the importance of assessment and data-informed planning, helping educators use strengths-based evaluations, interest inventories, and digital tools to guide individualized goal development. In addition, educators will explore instructional strategies that promote self-advocacy, executive functioning, career exploration, independent living skills, and digital literacy—key competencies needed for future-ready success. The course also emphasizes collaboration among educators, families, community agencies, and employers to support comprehensive transition experiences. Participants will explore practical tools and resources for transition planning, examine strategies for overcoming common barriers, and consider emerging trends in workforce readiness and technology that influence the future of transition education. By the end of the course, educators will be equipped with actionable strategies to design effective transition plans, foster student voice and choice, and support students with disabilities as they move toward meaningful adult lives. Throughout this course, participants will learn about 1) the legal and foundational components of effective transition planning in special education, 2) assessment and instructional strategies that promote student-centered postsecondary success, and 3) collaborative approaches and practical tools for implementing future-ready transition practices in schools and communities.

Identifying and Supporting Students through Early Intervention
$12.00 [1.00 CE Hours]
Identifying and Supporting Students Through Early Intervention provides educators with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to recognize early signs of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges and respond with timely, evidence-based support. The course emphasizes a proactive, prevention-focused mindset that moves beyond “wait to fail” models and instead promotes early identification, equitable practices, and structured systems of support within K–12 educational settings. Educators will explore the purpose and long-term benefits of early intervention, including its impact on academic achievement, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and overall school climate. Participants will gain a strong understanding of tiered systems of support, including Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and learn how high-quality Tier 1 instruction lays the foundation for effective intervention. The course also highlights how to recognize early warning signs across academic, behavioral, and mental health domains and use multiple sources of data to inform responsible decision-making. Participants will also learn strategies for collaborating effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams and for selecting and implementing evidence-based interventions tailored to individual student needs. Through this course, educators will develop the skills and confidence to identify concerns early, respond strategically, and create supportive learning environments that promote student success across academic, social, and emotional domains. Specifically, participants will learn about 1) the foundational principles and systems that guide effective early intervention in schools, 2) strategies for recognizing early warning signs and using data to inform identification and decision-making, and 3) approaches for collaborating with families and teams, and implementing evidence-based interventions that promote equitable student outcomes.
