Project Title: From the Ashes
Description: With the threat of wildfires ever omnipresent to the residents of California, the tie is now to reconsider entirely the way we build our homes and communities. Using research on fire behavior, resilient design techniques, and predictions of wildfire risk in the future, this project will propose a prototype of a fire adapted luxury community risen from the ashes of a fallen neighborhood in Malibu, California. By understanding the unique needs of Malibu’s residents, this design will serve as an example of how community, sustainability, and luxury need not be sacrificed to make safety from wildfires happen.
