Join Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro, in partnership with California’s Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P), for Rock the Block, a FREE, family-friendly celebration where you can experience a day in the life of a Club Kid.

Enjoy live music, games, hands-on activities, sports, STEM, literacy, food and more. Plus, enjoy BBQ hot dogs served by Alameda County Firefighters Local 55 and donated by Aisha Knowles, Alameda County Board of Education Trustee, Area 4, lemonade and flavored snow cones from Torani, and ice cream sundaes from Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.

Get ready to Rock the Block! 🎉 BGCSL’s annual back-to-school celebration is taking over the Teen Clubhouse on Saturday, Sept. 12, with an afternoon of free activities, food, community resources, and plenty of ways to experience what life as a Club kid is all about.

From arts and crafts and hands-on STEM to literacy activities, martial arts, soccer, football, music, and more, there’s something for the whole family.

Climb aboard a firetruck with Alameda County Fire Department and Local 55, get a free vision screening with Vision To Learn, take a ukulele lesson with Generation Music & Arts Academy, enjoy face painting, and stop by Juniper Corner for a play space designed especially for ages 0–5. You can also explore the Teen Clubhouse, meet our school district and enrichment partners, and learn more about BGCSL’s free after-school and Teen Clubhouse programs.

And come hungry! Alameda County Fire Department, Local 55 will be grilling BBQ hot dogs, generously donated by Aisha Knowles, Alameda County Board of Education Trustee, Area 4. Our friends at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company will be making free ice cream sundaes on site, while our neighbors at Torani will be serving lemonade and flavored snow cones at the Club Café.

You're invited to the biggest block party of the year!

Experience a day in the life of a Club Kid with arts and crafts, reading activities, and enrichments like martial arts, soccer, football, music, and more. Our annual back-to-school celebration Rock the Block has something for the whole family.

The event is free, including hot dogs provided, cooked and served by Alameda County firefighters and Aisha Knowles, ACBOE Trustee, Area 4. Plus, enjoy sundaes made on site by our friends at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and refreshing drinks from our neighbors at Torani.

BGCSL is looking for a Future Ready Academic Coach who’s passionate about helping teens succeed in high school and prepare for what comes next.

In this role, you’ll work directly with teens through tutoring, academic coaching and Future Ready programming, helping them stay on track for graduation while exploring college, career and other post-secondary pathways.

Welcome to the Teen Clubhouse! Our doors officially open today, and we’re ready to welcome new and returning faces to the Club.

Come hang out, and get settled in. Program and class registration opens Friday, and don’t forget, all Teen Clubhouse programs are free.

Then, bring the family to our Family Club Night + Orientation on Friday, August 28, from 5:30–8:00 p.m. Tour the Clubhouse, meet our staff, grab dinner, and get a look at what we have planned for fall.

Our one and only Teen Cafe teamed up with Torani this summer for a hands on barista training, and it was a hit. After learning how to make lattes and refreshers, teens put their new skills to work by serving fellow members, staff, and guests during an end of summer celebration. The experience gave teens the opportunity to practice job skills, collaborate as a team, and serve up delicious drinks.
