Each year, our counseling, office, and administrative teams take on the giant puzzle of student schedules. They work through course changes, class sizes, and all the details that help students get settled into the right classes. And they have to do it quickly as the school year gets underway.

Our teams did an incredible job taking on that challenge this year, so we celebrated with a special delivery from the brand-new SLUSD food truck. The truck rolled up to our two middle schools and high schools with breakfast burritos for the teams behind all that scheduling work.

The food truck is new this year too, and this was a fun first outing. It will soon become another place for students to grab food at San Leandro High School.

Congratulations to our teams for getting schedules balanced and the school year off and running. A very big puzzle and a very well-earned breakfast.

A big thank you to everyone who came out for Back to School Night across our eight elementary schools. It was so nice to see our campuses full of families, conversations about student learning, and plenty of connection along the way.

A special thank you to our school staff for the late night and all the care that goes into welcoming our community. We appreciate you!

It's almost time for college applications, and SLED is here to help!

Once again, our wonderful partners at the San Leandro Public Library will be hosting a college series. First up, their presentation on how to pay for college.

Next, two sessions with SLED - the first an overview of the application process - what you need to have ready, how to hone in on your school and major options, PIQ/essay overviews, and more. The second session will be hands on - starting applications and giving more individualized guidance.

All of these sessions are FREE, but you do need to register in advance to save your spot.

Bancroft Middle School is so grateful for the school’s new volleyball nets. It was no small task to install these, and they look fantastic. Students have already been putting them to good use every day, and the volleyball team is getting ready to CRUSH it this year!

There’s something so sweet about starting senior year together. San Leandro High School’s Class of 2027 gathered for Senior Sunrise, soaking in the early morning sky and the feeling of knowing this is the beginning of their final year as Pirates. A beautiful way to start a year they’ll always remember.

Please join us in welcoming Paul R. Mueller, who was appointed Thursday evening to represent Trustee Area 5 on the San Leandro Unified School District Board of Education. As an SLUSD parent and dedicated school volunteer, Paul brings a close connection to our schools and community. We are glad to welcome him to the Board, and we thank all our fantastic applicants who came out to support our schools!

Monroe Elementary is a school that celebrates its Eagles! Ms. Lew’s class cheered for a perfect attendance day, while Students of the Week are already being recognized across campus. From showing up every day to shining in the classroom, Monroe Eagles have so much to celebrate!
