One Saturday a month, the parents take turns teaming up to tackle deep-cleaning, reorganization, and repair projects at our school. It's an opportunity to closely look at what's working, what's not, and ways to improve the space for play and learning for everyone. 

Big thank you to the parents who teamed up this past Saturday for our first Maintenance Day of the year! 🫶

• Create a nature collage and share what they notice
• Sort leaves by size or color
• Predict which leaves will float or sink

Add measuring and mixing to a simple sensory recipe, and you can watch learning grow from naming what they see to sorting, predicting, and explaining it. 🧪🔢🍎

We are currently exploring how we keep our bodies healthy and safe. Naturally, p**p came up as a topic! 💩 We discussed how p**p comes from the foods we eat, and what happens after we flush it down the toilet. Our AM kiddos were very fascinated with how far p**p travels through pipes to get to a wastewater treatment plant.

Our sensory activity:
⚡ sparked new curiousity on the topic
🪏challenged our fine-motor & hand-eye coordination skills

🪂 Jump in and come learn with us through play! 

🔆 Climbing, holding our core stable, and using our hands and feet to stay balance are all wonderful physical ways to activate our brain for planning, problem-solving, and understanding. The more we practice moving our bodies, the more we learn about and trust ourselves. 🔆

"Today I’m a firefighter!" "I’m the doctor!" "You’re the customer, and I’m making you a pizza!"

Dressing up and playing pretend is so much more than fun. Costumes, hats, music, and made-up roles invite children to use their imaginations, explore new perspectives, and create characters they can embody.

When we welcome children into their current pretend-play world, we’re supporting them as they practice expressing themselves, communicating ideas, collaborating with friends, and making sense of the world around them.

At Broadmoor, play is how children learn—and imaginative play gives them room to try on possibilities, one character at a time. 💛

Going on vacation soon? Prepare for your trip by creating a “flight service” activity, complete with snacks and juice boxes! Planning a TSA check with luggage in tow? Passport stamping? We’ve done it all—and we love seeing your new ideas come to life.

Our parent-coop model gives caregivers the opportunity to bring their experiences, hobbies, and creativity into the classroom. You're probably wondering, "What? Pool noodle battle?? Kids hit each other???" 

YES! Exactly that. But, it's a fun learning experience if you set boundaries and expectations first ⚖️🤝

Before it was game on, Ms. Liz went over the ground rules at circle time:

1️⃣ Outside only
2️⃣ Only people holding a noodle are playing
3️⃣ Shoulders and below only

The kids gave their double thumbs up to the rules, then they were off testing limits and learning how to "rough" play with others in a healthy way. Sure, some kids got carried away, but simple reminders of what is okay (and making adjustments when necessary) helped to reset the game and mood ☺️
