Hispanic Heritage Month is here!

The Austin Middle School Bruin Community is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a fun-filled Hispanic Pride Week, September 14–18!

Join us each day as we celebrate culture, traditions, accomplishments, and our South Texas roots.

❤️🤍💙 Remembering 9/11 Through Kindness 💙🤍❤️

Today, our students commemorated September 11th by writing Good Deed Pledges on yellow hearts, honoring the day through kindness, service, unity, and compassion. 💛

Each yellow heart represents a promise to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in our school community. Together, our students are showing that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

We remember. We honor. We choose kindness. ❤️🤍💙

Today, our PE and Athletics students participated in a Stair Climb to honor and remember the first responders who courageously served on September 11, 2001.

With every step, our Bruins paid tribute to their bravery, service, and sacrifice.

Today, Austin Middle School came together to remember September 11, 2001, and to honor the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the courage shown in the days that followed.

Our commemoration was a time to reflect, remember, and recognize the importance of coming together as a community.

Thank you to our students, staff, first responders, and community members who helped make this meaningful remembrance possible.

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN THE WORLD STOPPED?

September 11, 2001, is a day we will never forget.

In our latest 9/11 Commemoration video, members of our Bruin staff share where they were when the attacks happened and reflect on the memories they carried with them from that day.

We are also honored to hear from Mr. Tony Avila, who was inside the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. Mr. Avila shares his personal recollection of that morning and the moments that changed his life forever.

These stories remind us that history is not just something we read about—it is something people lived through, remember, and carry with them.

Today, we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who responded, and listen to the stories of those who were there.

You may see first responders outside Austin Middle School today. **Please do not be alarmed.** Their presence is part of our **9/11 Commemorative Ceremony**.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who served, and recognize the courage and unity that continue to bring us together.

In remembrance of September 11, our teachers are taking the 9/11 Good Deed Pledge by writing down one meaningful act of kindness they commit to doing that day.

From helping a neighbor to encouraging a student, every good deed is a reminder that kindness can make a difference. Together, we honor the past by choosing to spread compassion, kindness, and hope in our community.

Today, we celebrate our amazing secretary, Jackie! 🥹👏 After being such an important part of our Austin Middle School family, Jackie is moving on to an exciting new position—and while we are SO proud of her, we’re definitely going to miss her! 🐾💛

Jackie, thank you for the kindness, dedication, patience, and positive energy you have shared with our students, staff, and families. Your hard work and caring heart have made a difference in our school community, and your presence will truly be missed. 💐

We may be saying “see you later,” but we know you’re going to do AMAZING things in your new role! 🌟🙌
