Many parents are surprised to learn that there isn’t just one type of professional who can diagnose dyslexia.

A comprehensive dyslexia evaluation may be completed by a qualified psychologist, neuropsychologist, educational psychologist, or—in many states and within their professional scope—a Speech-Language Pathologist with specialized training in dyslexia.

The title matters, but expertise matters even more.
A quality evaluation should identify why a child is struggling to read by assessing the underlying language and literacy skills needed for successful reading.

That information helps guide effective, evidence-based intervention.
