Students and parents had a wonderful time learning about the Harker Conservatory's many performing arts offerings at this year's Conservatory Kickoff! The annual welcome meeting included presentations from faculty, students and conservatory graduate Gracean Linthacun-Janker '18. The next day, 64 members of the Class of 2030 attended a special lunch meeting for games and talks with current certificate candidates, who shared their enthusiasm for participating in the arts and how it has made their experience at Harker so special.

Last Thursday, the sophomores and juniors embarked on their annual class trips! Joined by their advisors, the tenth graders navigated collaborative ropes courses nestled in the forests, and the juniors visited Angel Island for a scavenger hunt that challenged students to get creative while taking in the spectacular views and, of course, kayaking!

Last week, the Class of 2030 prepared for the school year at the annual Grade 9 Field Day! Students were greeted enthusiastically by the Link Crew, who guided them to the auxiliary gym to meet their advisors for some fun icebreaker activities. This morning’s matriculation ceremony marked the beginning of the 2026-27 upper school academic year! The Class of 2030 received a standing ovation as they took their seats at the athletic center, and students heard heartfelt and inspiring words from head of school Brian Yager, upper division head Paul Barsky and ASB president Sophia Zhu, grade 12, as well as more representatives of the student leadership. Students and faculty were also treated to performances by Capriccio and the Harker Chamber Orchestra, and viewed a hilarious video explainer on the many facilities and resources available to students! The Class of 2027 arrived at the upper school campus yesterday for this year’s senior retreat! After happily reuniting with classmates, students attended a wide variety of workshops led by their advisors, such as yoga, improv, poker tournaments and cookie baking. They also attended a panel of 2026 graduates, who reflected on their final year at Harker and offered advice to the incoming seniors. We look forward to seeing all of you at matriculation tomorrow! ☀️🦅💚
