We accept submissions from students in any discipline if the topic is within the scope of Library and Information Science. Sage Joshi is a q***r, disabled, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and Person of Color) writer living in San Diego. They have completed a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University in the U.K., have interned for The Premier Media Group , and ran a blog, Stardust Stories. They are now working on a Master in Library and Information Science at San Jose State University.

Elena Porton is a graduate student at San José State University studying Library and Information Science. They graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2023 with a major in Linguistics and a minor in English literature, and now live in their hometown of Santa Rosa, CA.

Dr. Amber Johnson will talk about the path to creating and exhibiting Transfuturism, an art exhibit that celebrates Black Trans joy, and ways to address academic censorship that stifles imagination, possibility, and futurity in a challenging political climate.

Kimberly Mendoza earned her sociology degree from California State University, Sacramento, and is currently pursuing a degree in Library and Information Science at San José State University. She is the founder of a nonprofit organization focused on improving animal welfare and facilitating pet adoptions in her local community. Her academic interests include qualitative research, social informatics, information behavior, and community outreach.

Carly Gutierrez, an MLIS graduate student at SJSU, will graduate in Spring 2027. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and a Library and Information Technology Certificate from Palomar College. Carly is published for both poetry and prose in the 2021 Palomar literary journal, Bravura. A member of ALA Core, they also do peer review for the Core journals ITAL and Library Leadership & Management.
