Our mission is to increase the diversity of the professional workforce in Silicon Valley. We are working towards raising funds for this at the moment.

About our network:

As of November of 2013, we were established as a partner with the SJSU Alumni Association. Our goal is to get Alumni to connected or reconnect through our networking events. We hope that by establishing the SJSU Latino Alumni Network will open doors for inactive alumni to be part of an organization and help bring visibility to the already established SJSU Alumni Association. May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚. Between finals and graduation, big transitions bring big stress. While stress is inevitable, staying stuck in it isn’t!

Board Member & Licensed Mental Health Therapist Lilian Alfaro Cavlan reminds us that acknowledging our feelings is the first step to processing them.

Here are quick tips to reset your nervous system and close the stress loop:

🌿 How to End the Stress Cycle:

💪 Physical Body

Move: Walk, stretch, or dance for 30 mins to lower cortisol.

Breathe: Take slow, deep breaths to calm down.

Rest: Power nap for 15–20 minutes.

🧠 Mental Body

Brain Dump: Write down your mental "open tabs" and throw the paper away.

Organize: List and prioritize tasks.

Visualize: Listen to a guided meditation.

✨ Emotional Body

Check-In: Pause and acknowledge how you feel.

Connect: Talk to a friend or therapist to boost oxytocin.

Lift Mood: Listen to your favorite song or watch a comedy.

Prioritizing your mental health is the key to academic and career success.

Repeat after us:

"I am strong, I am healthy, and I am capable."

We can do hard things, Spartans! 💙💛 Tag a friend who needs to see this today.

Congratulations to SJSU LAN Advisory Board Member Eddie García on the launch of Mexican Heritage Plaza: A Symbol of Resilience and Perseverance.
This powerful book captures the story behind the creation of the Mexican Heritage Plaza and the dedicated Mexican American civic leaders who overcame tremendous political, financial, and social obstacles in the 1990s to build what would become a lasting symbol of resilience, culture, and community in San José.

The book launch featured Eddie leading an inspiring panel discussion with trailblazers Blanca Alvarado, Fernando Zazueta, and Pete Carrillo — visionaries whose leadership and perseverance helped bring the project to life.

From the financial and political hurdles to the thoughtful artistic details woven throughout the Plaza’s design, the conversation highlighted the passion, sacrifice, and community pride behind this landmark cultural center.

We look forward to diving deeper into the book and celebrating the enduring legacy of the Mexican Heritage Plaza as a beacon of Mexican American resilience and heart of the community.
