APPS Almaden Parents' Pre-school

These free events are great for meeting new friends and building community. We'll provide a fun activity and you really get to feel like a part of our village and see how we tick. We'd love you to come whether you're already a member or alumni, or even if you aren't looking for a school. The main point is to build community together and have something to do during those long summer days with the kids.

If you're interested in a tour, we won't be open but we can walk over to the playground and show you around upon request.

We hope to see you every Wednesday! And watch this space, we plan to host at least one creek day this summer as well!

Kicking summer into high gear with tons of messy sensory play!

Our whole school spent the day at the beach today, digging in sand, experimenting with water, and learning how to fly kites! But mostly we just basked in our community, watching each other's children, helping each other carry loads to and from the parking lot, and chatting with other grownups while our children shared beach toys and had snacks (thanks for the watermelon)!

One child found lots of sand crabs and put them in a bucket for his friends to see. We didn't get a chance to show him this giant one we found, so hopefully his grownups will see this post and show him!

On days like today I'm so thankful I found this place, and I think about how many families enjoyed this before me in the 55 years this school has been here and how many more families will be here in the future. What a special place our little preschool is!

This book is like peeking behind the curtain at a magic show! Author shows us all the ways children need to develop in order to master literacy, and the science behind how child led play makes that development happen. Play feels like literal magic in how it prepares our children for later school!

If you don't get a chance to read it, I'll have some cheat sheets ready for us, and really we just want to bond as a community and share our lives with each other! This group is about seeing that we are not alone, reducing the burden of parenting so we can enjoy it more, and sharing our struggles and wins.

So much to celebrate today! With Eid, Nowruz, the first day of Spring, and the birthday of one of our 3 Day children, our day was filled with celebration!

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community of families to celebrate with!
