Is your compost ready yet? If you’ve been turning and watering your pile for months, here’s how to know when your compost is ready to use! 🌱
Finished compost is:
Dark brown and crumbly, like rich soil
Unrecognizable- no more banana peels or leaves in sight
Earthy-smelling, never sour or rotten
Cool to the touch, since the microbes have finished their work
Moist like a wrung-out sponge
When your pile checks all these boxes, it’s ready for your garden beds, containers, or as a top dressing for your soil!

De color marrón oscuro y desmenuzable, como tierra fértil
Irreconocible: ya no se ven cáscaras de plátano ni hojas
Con olor a tierra, nunca agrio ni podrido
Fresco al tacto, ya que los microbios han terminado su trabajo
Húmedo como una esponja escurrida
Cuando tu pila cumpla con todos estos requisitos, ¡estará listo para tus camas de jardín, macetas o como abono de cobertura para tu tierra!
