"That would never work in a real fight."

I hear it every time someone watches silat for the first time. The flow drills look strange. The angles look impossible. The entries look too close.

Then they step on the mat and someone takes their base out before they finish the sentence.

Silat doesn't look like fighting because it isn't built for a ring. It's built for the half-second where somebody is already on top of you.

What an incredible night celebrating Indonesian Independence Day at Bay Area PDT! We honored 81 years of Indonesian independence the best way we know how — training hard, sharing culture, and feasting together as a family.

Sate ayam 🍢 rendang 🍛 fresh lumpia, and plenty of Kopiko to go around ☕ — but the real highlight was the people. This is what Pukulan Pentjak Silat Bukti Negara is all about: preserving the art, honoring the culture, and building community.
