This month, we’re celebrating the furry family members we have loved and lost, and the unconditional love they left behind.

Our dogs and cats become part of who we are. They bring us joy, comfort us when we hurt, and leave us with memories we carry forever.

🌈 Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. Our pets’ time with us may have been too short, but the love we shared with them lasts forever.

🐶🐱 Next month, Duo Duo Project will dedicate the entire month to honoring our beloved furry family members as part of World Animal Remembrance Month. We’ll be reflecting on the special bonds we shared with them, the joy they brought into our lives, and the precious memories we carry with us.

As we celebrate International Dog Day, we want to share why we remain optimistic about the future for dogs, and cats, in China.

Young people across China are passionately standing up for animals, especially following the horrific cruelty inflicted on WangWang and her puppies. They are finding resourceful ways to keep sharing important messages like “Stop Animal Abuse” and “If you don't love me, please don't hurt me."

Lasting progress doesn’t happen overnight. It begins when compassion takes root in the hearts of the next generation.

New displays featuring WangWang and her puppies are beginning to appear again — a construction site, a restaurant, a gift shop. The 3-panel meme appeared on a popular social media platform. We are proud of the young animal advocates in China who refuse to let WangWang and her puppies be forgotten.

For 13 years, Duo Duo Project has been teaching children in China that dogs and cats are family, not food.

In Yulin alone, we’ve reached more than 80,000 children through humane education and hands-on experiences that help them see animals in a whole new way.

And we’re seeing the impact. Very few people in China still eat dogs and cats, and that number continues to decline. The younger generation increasingly sees dogs and cats as beloved members of the family.

This is how lasting change happens, one child, one heart, one generation at a time.

China is a vast country filled with people from every background and perspective. Horrific acts of cruelty occur, but so do extraordinary acts of kindness. We must never allow one terrible crime to define an entire nation or overshadow the countless people working every day to protect animals.

You can directly contribute to a more compassionate future for animals in China in the form of a legacy gift.
