At Baker’s Dozen Montessori, at home daycare and preschool, we focus on fostering the child’s natural curiosity to learn through a wide array of activities and practical life skills that will help them grow in all aspects of child development.

What is montessori? The Montessori method of teaching was created more than a century ago by the Italian physician Dr. Maria Montessori in order to complement a child's innate curiosity and desire to learn. Children that follow the Montessori Method are encouraged to grow independently in all domains of their development—cognitive, emotional, social, and physical. Montessori education is self-directed and student-led, but it is also supported, evaluated, and enhanced by the teachers, peer leadership, and a thoughtfully curated atmosphere. Children appreciate multi-sensory learning and passionate inquiry within a multi-age classroom, which is meant to create natural possibilities for independence, citizenship, and accountability. Every student pursues their own interest at their own speed, spending the time necessary to grasp each idea completely and accomplish their unique learning objectives. Montessori children develop into self-assured, vivacious, self-directed citizens who are responsible to their community as well as to themselves.
