When the nation’s transportation system faced an unprecedented crisis on September 11, 2001, Genie Norris Murphy was serving as Senior Advisor to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta.
In the days that followed, she remained closely involved in the Department’s response, traveling to New York as Secretary Mineta’s on-site representative at Ground Zero. Her service that day and afterward earned her the Transportation 9/11 Medal.
On September 9, Murphy joins us at the Mineta Forum on Transportation Policy & Leadership to share her firsthand perspective on those defining days and the leadership that helped guide the nation through them.
