Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Alumni Night, Scholarship, and Senior Design Project Showcase!βοΈ π
This yearβs event was our largest yet with over 200 students, alumni, faculty, and sponsors to celebrate the innovation and hard work of our graduating seniors. The evening highlighted outstanding senior design projects, recognized our scholarship awardees, and showcased the strength of the Spartan engineering community by connecting over 6 decades of past, present, and future engineers. We were deeply honored to have a representative from the Class of 1962 with us this evening, reminding us of the decades of excellence and community that continue to shape SJSU's legacy. ππ
π Most Engaging Senior Project Award for their project, Affordable Smart Wheelchair with Obstacle Avoidance:
Joaquin Aguilera, Odin Bruyere, Hasan Chharawalla, Cesar Garcia Perez, Javier Gomez, and Keshav Sreedharan, with faculty support from Dr. Mojtaba Sharifi and Dr. Amir Armani.
A special thank you to our dedicated SJSU Pi Tau Sigma volunteers and the ME Team for helping make this event a success. ππ

ππ§Swing by Christmas in the Park held in Downtown San Jose this Holiday Season and catch the amazing SJSU Penguin Display restored by one of our Fall 2025 Graduates Senior Projects! π§β¨
Our talented Spartans put so much creativity and heart into bringing this vision to life and we couldn't be any more proud. βοΈππ
SJSU College of Engineering students are reviving a beloved Christmas in the Park penguin display, blending creativity and engineering to build new animatronic features. Guided by Mechanical Engineering Professor Vimal Viswanathan, the project teaches real-world design, teamwork, and innovation β bringing motion, sustainability and fresh energy to one of San JosΓ©βs most cherished holiday traditions.
βSeeing the penguins finally move β after months of planning, modeling, 3D printing, and assembly β was an amazing feeling,β says Bradley Karr, β25 Mechanical Engineering, who participated in the project. βItβs one thing to design something on a computer, but seeing it come to life in front of you is something else entirely.β
Get the full story on the SJSU NewsCenter blog β or better yet, swing by Christmas in the Park to see the penguins in motion!
