Here's a note from Mr. K regarding The San Jose Nutcracker:

Hi everyone!

It's time for all of your favorite holiday traditions, one of which, for many, is the Nutcracker ballet! This will be my 13th year conducting the Cambrian Symphony in coordination with the San Jose Dance Theater, which holds the longest running production in the Bay Area, celebrating its 60th season this year!

Due to budget and theater constraints, most Nutcracker performances use pre-recorded music instead of a live orchestra, and if they can have a live orchestra, it's typically reduced to only 10-12 performers.

Our production is as big as it gets! The CPA is a major San Jose venue holding 2800 people, and it allows us to bring up to 60 musicians in the pit to help bring the ballet to life. So when you come see this year's performances, you're supporting the arts, ballet, live orchestra, and filling one of our largest venues with full scale productions.

And if that list of reasons isn't enough, an added bonus!!!! Our very own Castillero dancer, Tatiana, will be the lead role of Clara this year on the 13th and 14th! Exciting for her and everyone at Castillero to see members of our programs grace the stages of San Jose.

Come celebrate this grand tradition of music and dance and join, me, the Cambrian Symphony, and the San Jose Dance Theater as we present the 60th annual production of the Nutcracker!
