Today is the day to wear yellow for Seth!

Seth Lane is a 5 year-old British boy has spent most of his life in a hospital because he was born with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, often referred to as ‘bubble boy disease.’

Seth is asking people to wear YELLOW, his favorite color. The pictures will be hung around Seth’s hospital room so he can see that he’s not alone as he waits for and recovers from the procedure. Seth also has a map of the world in his room and will pin all the countries where people have posted a picture from.

This will be Seth’s second attempt at a bone marrow transplant — the first one failed in 2010 — and he has been waiting in the hospital since January. The procedure, if successful, is supposed to rebuild Seth’s immune system, but he will still have to spend almost a year in near-isolation. Let's all show Seth that he is not alone in his fight!

This goes to all our fellow Spartans because we know you all have your yellow shirts! ;)

Some of you have been wondering why we're not eating for 30 hours. As brothers of Alpha Kappa Omega, we want to have a better understanding of who we're helping. They say you really wouldn't know how others feel unless experience what they're going through.

Every year, we do 30 hours to experience 1 whole day compared to these people who go hungry everyday. We know it's just a small part but it is enough for us to realize how difficult it is to be hungry even just for a day and how lucky we are that we have food on our plate any time of the day. But sometimes they look happier than us.

Every year, this experience not only helps us raise hunger awareness but it also helps us be grateful of what we have.

End World Hunger.
Don't Waste your Food.
If You can, Share Your Blessings with Others.

2 years ago we saw this anonymous post. More than the donations we've collected, we fight to end hunger. This is what we live for: to make an impact on other people's lives. Whoever you are, thank you for reminding us why we keep doing what we do. Also, we're back this week!
March 16th - 18th!

HUNGER FACT # 1

"In 2012, more than 18,000 children younger than 5 died every day — most from PREVENTABLE causes. It’s estimated that nearly 8,000 of these deaths were tied to HUNGER. That’s about one every 10 seconds -

*** Most of these kids died not from starvation, but from malnutrition — meaning too long without the RIGHT KIND of food. Eating just enough to stay alive weakened their bodies so much that disease could strike the final blow " - World Vision

Ask any brother of Alpha Kappa Omega for more information on how you can help! We are currently accepting donations online at http://youth.worldvision.org/team/alphakappaomega and also at our table on the week of March 16th - 18th. Have a good weekend everyone!
