Most of the world:
🪧 May 1 = marches, workers’ rights, solidarity.

USA:
🍔 September = BBQ, sales, and one last excuse to pretend summer isn’t over.

Nothing says workers’ rights like a 3-day weekend and a mattress sale. 😂

So why did America move Labor Day away from May?

Ever wondered why August is called 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁?

Because apparently, conquering Rome wasn’t enough for Augustus. He also wanted a month named after him. 😎

He looked at Julius Caesar’s 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 and basically said:

“𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵? 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼.” 😂

So Sextilis became 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁.

But wait… July had 31 days.

𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟯𝟭 𝘁𝗼𝗼. 👀

Because apparently, even Roman emperors had 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝘆. 🤣

Imagine ruling an empire and still thinking:

“Yeah, but does MY month have enough days?” 🍷

Two thousand years later, we’re STILL saying his name every August.

Chicken wings? KILLING! 🍗

“¡Dios mío! These people kill EVERYTHING!”

Then María explained the problem:

Ever wondered who decided we needed 24 hours a day?

Because the Earth just rotates. 🌎 It didn’t stop and say, “Let’s make this 24.”

Humans did.

Ancient Egyptians divided the day and night into 12 parts. The Greeks wanted precision. The Babylonians brought us 60 minutes and 60 seconds.

And then France said, “Forget 24!” 🇫🇷😂

They tried a 10-hour day with 100 minutes per hour.

Sounds efficient, right?

It lasted about 17 months. 💀

So next time your alarm screams at 7:00 a.m., remember:

The Sun didn’t invent 7:00.

👀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝟭𝟮-𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁? 🤔📅

January starts the year. December ends it. Simple, right?

Well… not exactly. 😅

There was a time when the traditional Roman year had only 10 months. January and February weren’t even part of the original lineup!

And those month names are still giving us clues. September means “seven,” October means “eight,” November means “nine,” and December means “ten.” Yet today? They’re months 9, 10, 11, and 12. Something definitely moved. 😂

So why did we end up with 12?

And what would happen if we added a 13th month? 👀
