What is the difference between mentorship and sponsorship?
Both shape careers.
One can change the course of a life.
In this reflection, Lincoln Law School of San Jose Dean Mary Fuller shares a story about a San Jose police lieutenant and a group of young officers that offers a powerful example of leadership in action.
The piece may resonate especially with first responders. Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and others who serve their communities often understand better than anyone the impact a committed mentor or sponsor can have.
Mentorship matters.
Sponsorship can change a life.
We invite you to take a few minutes to read the white paper on our school blog. We would welcome your thoughts.
Mentorship is Valuable. Sponsorship Changes Lives. | Lincoln Law School of San Jose
Mentors offer advice, perspective, and encouragement. Those relationships are invaluable. Sponsoring someone may change a life.

As the February Bar Exam approaches on February 24-25, we're thinking of every Lincoln graduate preparing to sit for it.
You've done the work.
You've balanced careers, families, obligations, and late-night study sessions. You showed up to class after long days. You wrestled with doctrine. You wrote – and rewrote – essays. You pushed through doubt.
The bar exam is two days.
Your preparation has been years.
Trust your training.
Read carefully.
Write clearly.
Move forward with discipline and confidence.
No matter what happens this week, you've already demonstrated resilience and character.
We're proud of you.
Good luck!
