Ok, I got this. I think I got this because I posted a picture of my new sword and the two bayonet training rifles.

I'm still processing this. My students and friends surprised me with a montante for earning my Maestro d’armi.
That’s not just a gift; it’s a sign of trust and responsibility. I don’t take that lightly.
Thank you sincerely.

Love this variation of our 5th with the principle of parrying behind the target. This works great when you are shorter than your opponent or the opponent tends to angulate to make the hit. These parry works for both scenarios.

This past weekend, I had the privilege of teaching at the Rapier and Saber Pedagogy retreat (RASP) alongside 12 other outstanding instructors. It was an honor to be part of that company and contribute to a room filled with serious students of fencing.
The participants were fantastic and engaged, focused, and willing to work through complex fencing actions rather than avoid them. When people are eager to refine timing, structure, and ex*****on, real progress happens.
I also had the privilege to give several one-on-one lessons, which allowed further refinement of skills that group work can’t always reach (And yes, I may have terrified a few students in the process… but only in the best, most educational way possible).
The setting added to the experience: beautiful scenery, excitement, and an atmosphere that encouraged both discipline and camaraderie. You could feel the enthusiasm from the moment the day began.
Special thanks to Maestro David Coblentz and Maestra Dori Coblentz for organizing and running such a well-executed event. The professionalism, hospitality, and attention to detail were clear in every aspect. Creating an environment where instructors can teach freely and students can thrive takes real effort.
Grateful to have been part of RASP. I look forward to the next one.
