Sustainable Living and Learning Communities - SLLC

Hello! You are invited to a work party in the SLLC Accessibility Hub on Sunday, February 9th. We will be in the ASUCD Garden from 10 am to 2 pm. Join us to learn more about accessible pathways and the SLLC’s project with Healthy UC Davis.

We will be clearing out pathways and weeding so be prepared to get dirty! If you plan on attending, please fill out this Google Form RSVP (https://forms.gle/u4GfDVCLhnHYENZu6).

College Corps Fellows working with Arboretum staff to install new pathways using HexPave. We aim to use HexPave to create accessible, outdoor gathering spaces as part of the SLLC’s ongoing Accessibility Project, in partnership with Healthy UC Davis and The Green Initiative Fund. Special thanks to Andrew Fulks (Putah Creek Riparian Reserve Manager), who helped us to get a feeling for the tasks ahead of us.

Funded by the Healthy UC Davis Grant, the SLLC’s Accessibility Project: Phase I will establish accessible and inviting pedestrian entryways and gathering spaces for the Sustainable Living/Learning Community – one at our new North entry at Blue Ridge Road and another at our East entry along Orchard Park Drive.

In December 2021, in collaboration with the Solar Community Housing Organization (SCHA) and The UC Davis Green Initiative Fund (TGIF), we hired a team of three student coordinators to develop and sustainably maintain the North Entry to the SLLC. The Healthy UC Davis Grant will build upon the success of our TGIF-sponsored North Entry landscaping/hedgerow project.

🐸 2021 GREEN FELLOWSHIP APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN! 🐸

Are you a student with a passion for a sustainable and just world? Do you have a great idea to improve your campus community?

🌻 Submit a project proposal for the 2021 Sustainable Living and Learning Communities (SLLC) Green Fellowship!

Two Green Fellows are selected annually to complete a project that is hosted and supported by one of the SLLC communities and also benefits the SLLC more broadly. Funds are awarded for projects exploring student-led advancement of social justice, sustainable technology and environmental sustainability at UC Davis.

The Green Fellowship is open to all undergraduate students in all majors who have at least a 2.5 GPA. Graduate student proposals will be considered, but undergraduate students will be given priority.
