📚 NBAA PDP course “SMS FOR BUSINESS AVIATION” is coming soon to Napa, CA!

This one-day course, held in partnership with the Northern California Business Aviation Association and hosted by Atlantic Aviation, will provide a thorough review of safety management systems (SMS), including benefits, objectives, risk management, safety assurance and promotion.

Both FAA and ICAO guidance will be reviewed. By fully understanding SMS fundamentals, the participant will be able to contribute to the development of an SMS program for their business aviation department, or simply support an existing SMS.

By adopting an SMS, business aviation departments will realize new efficiencies and greater safety, thereby producing benefits for the entire organization and furthering the business aviation industry.

This course is co-hosted with the NorCalBAA and covers PDP Objectives Operations Ops 6. Cost: $900 for members and $ 1045 for non-members.

Top 5 tips to avoid getting hit in the face with a kickball...🔴

Don’t be like Kajia! Let’s take a moment to reflect on Kajia Straumanis’ viral photography series titled “Stuff Being Thrown at my Head” and explore some tips for how to avoid getting beaned on the kickball field!

Step 1: Move Out of the Way! 🏃🏼‍♂️
If you’re not in position to catch it, step aside, duck, or turn your shoulder to avoid a direct hit. Don’t freeze — movement is your best defense!

Step 2: Stay Alert at All Times 👀
Keep your eyes on the ball at all times — especially during plays. Don’t turn your head or look away if someone is about to kick or throw. Most face hits happen when players look away or get distracted.

Step 3: Use Your Hands as a Shield 🙌🏼
Raise your hands to chest or shoulder height when catching or blocking. If a ball is coming high, get your hands up first — think “block or catch” before it gets too close!

Step 4: Position Yourself Strategically 🎯
Stand slightly off to the side of where the ball is headed, rather than directly in its path. Bend your knees and stay in a ready stance to react quickly.

Step 5: Practice Reaction and Catching Skills 🥷
Work on catching drills and reflex training. The better your hand-eye coordination, the less likely you’ll get hit.

Bonus Tip: ⭐️
If you’re playing infield (especially pitcher or 1st base), be extra alert — those are the most common spots for fast kicks!
