Hi all! I now work at an organization called Girls Who Code -- and for my former students who are currently 10th and 11th grade girls (that is: each one of you girls that I taught at George!), it's a free program over the summer hosted at tech companies (in the past, companies like Facebook and Twitter) where you learn computer science along with 19 other girls, meet people in the tech world, and also build leadership skills. Students leave, on average, having mastered a college-level course -- and computer science skills mean jobs like nothing else in the Bay Area does. Applications will open in January. I will be hosting an informational session at the Berryessa Branch of the San Jose library next Saturday, December 6th from 12:00 - 1:30 PM and would LOVE to see you there if you want to learn more! HELLO JG 8th graders!!!! I am coming to your promotion tomorrow! I cannot wait to see all of you and beam with pride over all you've done. Will try and sneak into the area where you'll be with the teachers beforehand... find me!
