First Support CPR & First Aid Training is a family owned business. Our company started as a service that we provided to special need families through JLDtherapy, a pediatric occupational and speech therapy center that focuses on special needs. Soon after we started educating families, we truly started to understand that the skills learned in the class room are skills that every person should know. In addition to the family level courses offered at JLDtherapy, we wanted to expand to offer health care provider courses and reach more people with this valuable information which led us to open First Support CPR. You don't need a medical degree to step up and save a life! 🛑👩‍⚕️

Here is another critical CPR myth debunked:

Myth: Only doctors or trained medical professionals can perform CPR.

Fact: Untrained bystanders can—and should—perform Hands-Only CPR in an emergency!

The Impact: Immediate action by anyone nearby can double or even triple a victim's chances of survival.

If someone collapses, don't wait for a medical badge. Call emergency services and start pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest. Any CPR is better than no CPR! 💪❤️

Let’s bust a common CPR misconception! 💡❌

Many people hesitate to step in during a cardiac emergency because they think mouth-to-mouth is required. Here is the truth:

Myth: You must perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Fact: Hands-Only CPR—pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest—is extremely effective for adult sudden cardiac arrest.

When breaths matter: Rescue breaths remain a priority primarily in specific situations, such as drowning incidents or emergencies involving infants and children.

Don't let hesitation slow you down—your two hands are enough to save a life! 🙌❤️

When performing CPR, getting the pace right is crucial for keeping vital blood flowing to the heart and brain. ⏱️❤️

The key to high-quality chest compressions comes down to maintaining a steady, effective rhythm:

Push Hard and Fast: Aim for a target rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.

Find the Rhythm: Need help keeping time? Match your compressions to the beat of classic songs like "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees or "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé.

Maintain Depth & Recoil: Push down at least 2 inches for adults and allow the chest to fully rise between each push.

Consistent pace saves lives—practice your timing so you're ready if an emergency happens! ⚡💪

When seconds count, knowing how to perform high-quality chest compressions can be the difference between life and death. 🚨❤️

Hands-Only CPR is simple, effective, and easy to remember in a crisis:

Call Emergency Services: Get professional help on the way immediately.

Push Hard and Fast: Target 100 to 120 compressions per minute in the center of the chest (think to the beat of "Stayin' Alive").

Allow Full Recoil: Let the chest return to its normal position between compressions so the heart can refill with blood.

You don't need a medical degree to save a life—just two hands and the confidence to take action. 💪

A heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest are often used interchangeably, but they aren't the same medical emergency! 🫀💔

Think of it this way:

Heart Attack = A "Plumbing" Problem: Blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked. The heart usually continues to beat, and the person remains conscious.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest = An "Electrical" Problem: The heart unexpectedly stops beating due to a malfunction in its electrical system. The person loses consciousness and stops breathing normally.

Knowing the difference can save a life—quick response, early CPR, and calling emergency services make all the difference. 🩺⚡
