Thank you everyone who came to our Load-To-Fail event today!
Our bridge was loaded with a 1.2kip point load between the deck supports and ended up shearing the 1/4in grade 8 bolt in the bottom chord, but none of our tube steel or welds failed!
We'll be taking advantage of today's results to continually increase our knowledge in steel design and come back stronger next year!
Please stay tuned for a nice get together sometime next week! 🤓

It's been a while since I've updated our page but 3D modeling and fabrication is nearly complete! It's been a huge success this year with so many dedicated students. I am greatly impressed with how we challenged ourselves to finish this project as a team. We recently had a major design change of our connections, but we persevered and I am confident our design is as strong as can be. In less than 2 weeks fabrication and 3D modeling will have been fully completed and our construction team will already have started practicing assembly for MidPAC. Thank you everyone again for the opportunity to be your project manager this year, and hopefully you found me to also be your mentor and/or friend. -Jonathan. Thanks for all of you who came and cranked out some good looking models on Friday! This is the end of the individual design groups, but the beginning of a super collaboration between design, 3D modeling, and fabrication groups! Stay tuned for a sneak peak of individual group submissions for their wireframe models! Photo Cred: Oliver Castillo
