We are just 4 weeks away from our 28th Annual Mexica New Year in San Jose, CA. Our ceremony will take place at the beautiful Emma Prusch Park on the weekend of March 13,15, 2026.
March 12 at sunrise marks the start of Yancuic Xihuitl (New Year) Ce Tochtli (One Rabbit).
This is an important change of signs and the beginning of a new era. A time of Unity, abundance and creativity!
With this in mind, we are happy to share with you our Official tshirt and hoodie design available now for pre-sale. These will only be available in limited quantities at the ceremony, so pre-order your today to not be left out of this opportunity.
In our ancient Nahuatl language and philosophy, this symbol has an even deeper meaning.
Ce (or the number one) represents unity, beginning, and origin. Ce also represents Leadership, Responsibility, Initiative, and Precursor energy. Those born with this number are pioneers with the ability to lead and accomplish what they undertake.
Tochtli is the rabbit — a symbol of the fertility of the Earth and of all living things influenced by the phases of the Moon. A time of abundance, creativity and multiplicity and pleasure.
With this in mind, Lets welcome in this positive energy and prepare ourselves of all the abundance coming our way!!!

Happy Panquetzaliztli and Huitzilopochtli to everyone. Panquetzaliztli from our ancient “Aztec Calendar” is a 20 day count or Veintena that happens in the winter time (dec 17-jan 5). Panquetzaliztli translate as “the raising of the flags” or “the raising of our standards.” This is a time to remember we have the power to raise our standards in our own lives and in our community. We must understand that we are in the position we are in because we accept the things as they are. This is a reminder that we get to empower ourselves and each other to raise our standards and now do the necessary work to take ourselves and our community to the next level.
In this Veintena, we also acknowledge the Winter Solstice, Dec 22, the longest night and shortest amount of day light. This is when our mother earth has reached its furthest point from the sun. In our Mexica Tradition, it is known as the Birth of Huitzilopochtli, the left handed hummingbird. Huitzilopochtli, is also our “will power”, la fuerza de la voluntad. The sun rising on the day of the winter solstice is like the birth of a baby hummingbird, and this change in season requires the will power of all humanity to help our mother earth make her rotation closer to our father sun towards spring time.
In this Veintena, our ancestors also started the tradition of decorating the living trees and plants in an act of gratitude for all the fruits, vegetables, medicines and wood we received throughout the year. They decorated with small flags made of papel amate and offered copal, songs and dances in appreciation for everything provided by our mother Earth (Tonantzin Tlalli).
Another tradition during this time of the year, is to decorate with the Cuetlaxochitl (flor de noche buena) flower. This plant is 100% Mexica, and a gift to the rest of the world.
Tonight we offered our songs, flowers n fruit, raised our Pantlis and standards and danced with all our voluntad (Huitzilopochtli) to give thanks to our mother earth (Tonantzin Tlalli) for all the blessings we received as we prepare for the next season of Spring time. Happy Winter Solstice to all, may the power of Huitzilopochtli fill your hearts with abundance. Ometeotl
