Our mission is to enhance the lives of people impacted by autism through innovation, exceptional education, and compassionate care. PACE was founded in 1989 by a group of concerned parents and educators as a private, nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization to meet the critical need of providing education and care for children and adults with autism/developmental disabilities and their families. Before this time, many of our students were placed in inappropriate classroom settings and many of our residential clients were housed in unsuitable state hospitals and development centers. Without the support of an encouraging, attentive environment, the ability to develop the skills necessary for achieving integration into the community was doubtful. Starting with 14 students in 1989 and one group home in 1992, PACE now offers comprehensive services including Sunny Days Preschool, an inclusive preschool for children ages 2 ½- 6, the PACE School serving ages 6-22, PACE Residential group homes, Faces Behavioral Services for children with 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Porchlight Autism Education Series, a free e-learning training system with over 50 modules for parent and caregiver solutions to implement at home. What's going on in our community?

The California Department of Education (CDE), Special Education Division, in partnership with the Seeds of Partnership project, invite you to join this engaging webinar series. Whether you're a parent seeking to learn more about special education, related supports, and how to deepen your partnership with educators, or an educator looking for strategies to engage and support families, this webinar series offers a unique opportunity for collective learning. By learning together, we can build stronger connections that empower students to do their best both academically and personally. Each session will include a variety of topics, such as strategies for effective communication, ways to strengthen family-school relationships, insight into systems, programs, supports, best practices and approaches.

The Arc, San Jose Mineta Airport, Delta Airlines, and PACE are honored to host Wings for All®, a free event for PACE families on Saturday, October 17, 2025, 10:45 am - 1:30 pm at San Jose Mineta Airport.

Wings for All® is an airport rehearsal program specifically designed for individuals on the autism spectrum or with intellectual disabilities and their families. The program gives families the chance to experience the process of taking a flight in a safe, but realistic environment.

Families will experience:
Ticket counter and bag-check
TSA Security Screening
Arriving and waiting at the gate
Boarding the plane and safety protocols
Departing the gate and taxiing to the runway (the plane does not take off)
Exiting the plane

Space is limited. All participants must register by October 2, 2026.

Get ready - the Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to PACE next week! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again.

The easiest way to let your child shop the Fair independently is by creating an eWallet. It’s simple to set up and easy for others to add funds. We will not be accepting cash. Go to our school's book fair website https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/pacesanaleso to create your eWallet.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to Share the Fair - the giving program that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child leaves the Fair empty-handed! These funds can also be used to purchase books for the school and classroom libraries.

Hosted by Ipsita Bhattacharya, this episode of 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘! features 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘆, an 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗲 at the Pacific Autism Center for Education (PACE). Drawing from his experiences in private caregiving and classroom settings, Jake shares the lessons that continue to guide his work with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities.

His advice for anyone beginning a career in this field is rooted in three important ideas:

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Getting to know each student’s interests, strengths, needs, and unique ways of communicating helps make support more personal, effective, and meaningful.

𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀. Meaningful progress is supported by teamwork. Building trust and maintaining open communication with teachers, specialists, colleagues, and families creates the consistent network of care that students deserve.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱, 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆. This work can bring challenges, but it also brings powerful moments of joy. Celebrate the little wins, appreciate each step of growth, and remember that even the smallest accomplishments can hold great meaning.

Guided by our pillars — 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗔𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 — this episode is a thoughtful reminder that relationship-building, collaboration, and a genuine appreciation for each student’s progress are at the heart of compassionate support.

We're just over two weeks away from our Golf Classic! Do you have your tickets yet? Join us for a fun day of golf with plenty of on-course contests and prizes. Or just come for dinner to help support PACE and participate in our auctions and raffles.

No Sideline Sports is a Fremont-based nonprofit dedicated to creating inclusive and welcoming sports opportunities for children of all abilities. Our program is guided and advised by adults who help us better understand what families need, while high school students serve as volunteers to organize activities, encourage participants, and ensure every child feels supported and included.
Children can enjoy activities such as kickball, bean bag toss, soccer, carnival games, movement challenges, and other recreational activities. Each activity is designed to be flexible and can be adapted to different abilities, needs, and comfort levels. Our focus is not on competition, but on participation, confidence, friendship, teamwork, and fun.
High school volunteers will help explain activities, assist children 1 on 1, celebrate their progress, and create a positive environment where everyone is welcome. Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay involved, share feedback, and help their children feel comfortable.
By combining parent guidance with the energy and dedication of student volunteers, No Sideline Sports hopes to build a safe, patient, and family-friendly community. Our goal is for every child to have a meaningful opportunity to play, connect with others, and know that they belong.

For educators supporting individuals with autism, meaningful progress may look like a student communicating a need, trying something new, completing a task independently, or building a connection that makes learning feel safe and possible.

Now serving as the 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 for Room 3, Yadira is preparing to become the lead teacher for the new Room 4.

In this conversation, Yadira shares how patience, consistency, teamwork, and strong relationships have shaped her path in education. She reflects on creating 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱, and engaging learning environments that honor each student’s individual strengths, interests, communication style, and support needs.
