Did you know that I was in the juvenile justice system, dropped out of high school and was sent to a boarding school in Mexico?
My childhood was not easy. As a child, I wished I would die many times. Being verbally and physically abused daily was so overbearing and didn't understand it. I acted out and displayed my anger towards others in many ways.
I dealt with insecurities, shame, and blame. I would do anything to not have to go back home and I looked for love and acceptance in all the wrong places.
When people talk about what they wanted to be when they grow up, I think about how I never had those dreams and aspirations. I was just trying to survive.
I share this with you because I want to remind you that our past does not define who we are or where we are going in life. My childhood and my struggles are what give me strength. Because of my experiences as a child, I live life with integrity, trust, and forgiveness.
I hope that you don't allow your past to keep you from living out your dreams. And yes.... it is never to late to dream ๐ฅฐ
I didn't have many dreams as a child, but I am definitely dreaming now. I DREAM BIG! I am grateful for the people in my journey that continously reminded me of my worth and allowed me to borrow their confidence while I created my own.
