Xanadu JR. follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California, on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first Roller Disco. (Hey, it’s 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.

This production is performed by the talented 5th-8th grade performers from Starting Arts’ DT2 program. The Dream Team/DT2 program elevates the performers’ abilities in music, theater and dance, and further develops skills in collaboration, innovation and imagination. In alignment with Starting Arts’ mission, the Dream Team and DT2 foster a lifelong love for the arts.

💫Our youngest performers will get their chance to shine and perform Disney hit songs in this magical musical r***e! Open to all 5-10 year olds! No experience necessary.

✨Disney’s Dare to Dream JR. follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, Dare to Dream JR. features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, and Frozen II.

📣Dream Team Presents: The Drowsy Chaperone

With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

All Shook Up is a jukebox musical featuring the songs of Elvis Presley and inspired by William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Set in a repressive 1950s town, the plot follows a mysterious, guitar-playing roustabout who arrives and shakes up the lives of the residents, exploring themes of love, identity, and change through classic Elvis hits like “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Jailhouse Rock”.

Alfie Halpern has done another truly amazing job with the family invited during school music class “Informances” at 7 Gilroy elementary schools! This is the culmination of the second 16 weeks of Alfie’s during school classes. The audiences were full of smiling families!

These programs are provided to the 7 Gilroy Elementary schools with the very generous support of the Connell family! Thanks to the Connells, the Gilroy Foundation, and the Gilroy Unified School District, Starting Arts has been able to provide music education to 2nd graders throughout the district since 2018. Phenomenal job, Alfie!!! ❤🧡
