π€ One of the best parts of apprenticeship is seeing what we learn in the classroom come to life in the real world.
Our Steam Technology class had the opportunity to tour the πβ‘οΈ Los Esteros Power Plant and experience firsthand the systems and infrastructure they study.
Thank you to Mario and Miguel for taking the time to guide our apprentices through your facility. It is experiences like this that highlight the true scale and impact of the piping trades in our community. πͺπ§

The 2026 Union Women: Stronger Together conference brought together union members, leaders, and allies across California to build solidarity, share experiences, and create pathways for women to thrive in the trades πͺ
Weβre proud to share that our steamfitting apprentice, Cindy Ho, took the stage to share her journey and how union apprenticeship has supported her growth and success π
Her story is a great reminder of the power of opportunity and the impact of supporting one another in the trades π¬β¨
Happy Safety Week π¦Ί and Mental Health Awareness Month π!
Shoutout to HVACR Instructor and UA Local 393 Peer Supporter Ryan for sharing real experience and reminding us how powerful peer support can be π
Just like every job takes a team, no one stands alone. You are not alone.
Letβs keep the conversation going and continue to destigmatize mental health and wellness. π¬
This spring, the Pipe Trades Training Center introduced She Builds, our first outreach workshop designed by women, for women, held during Women in Construction Week. This meaningful addition created an opportunity for high school students to learn directly from women in our program about careers in the piping trades. π·ββοΈπ·ββοΈπ·ββοΈ
Thereβs no better way to explore trades than through hands-on experience, and participants had the chance to get involved and see what the work is really like.
Thank you to the young women who joined us. We also extend our appreciation to the volunteers who generously shared their time, knowledge, and experiences. πͺπ€©π§° A special thank you to Milwaukee Tool for sponsoring this event. Your continued partnership in supporting the recruitment and retention of women in the trades makes a meaningful impact.
π€π§We love seeing young people discover just how rewarding a career in the union piping trades can be!
Thatβs why we welcome middle school students to spend a day at the Pipe Trades Training Center. They get to learn about our apprenticeship program, what itβs like to work in the field, and take part in a hands-on activity. Itβs an opportunity for students to walk away with a clearer understanding of this career path and what steps they can take in high school to prepare.
Thank you to Cabrillo Middle School and the Torlakson Whole Child Institute for partnering with us on this event.
ππ We also extend our appreciation to our industry partners who helped make this day possible!! Milwaukee Tool for providing PPE, Windustrial Supply for supplying copper pipe and fittings, and SVM for donating sheet metal materials. π€
Spring has been an incredibly busy and exciting season at the Pipe Trades Training Center, and weβre proud to reflect on some of the strong partnerships built along the way. π
During Women in Construction Week, we had the opportunity to partner with the NAWIC Silicon Valley Chapter and host their Tradeswomen Panel at our Training Center. π·ββοΈπ·ββοΈπ·ββοΈ It was inspiring to see women from across the Bay Area come together, connect, and share their experiences in the trades. We also appreciated the opportunity to provide a tour of our training facility and showcase the work 393 members do!
Thank you to our 393 apprentices and journeylevel workers who participated in the event. A special shoutout to PTTC Steamfitting Instructor Courtney Borja for delivering the welcome remarks, and to Steamfitting Instructor Veronika Valverde for contributing to the panel discussion.
π₯³Thank you NAWIC Silicon Valley for your partnership and congratulations on 61 years of making an impact!
