EDeeU Education Seminar Series: Semi-Supervised Learning Uncovers Hidden Geometries in Data Groups 02/15/2019

Free this evening in Berkeley?

Why not learn something new, make new friends, and enjoy bread, cheese, drinks and dinner after?

At EDeeU Education we're building a new model for higher education – a vastly superior experience for a faction of the cost.

ABOUT YOUR SPEAKER:

Dr. Leonard Apeltsin is the Senior Data Scientist and Engineering Lead at Primer, a machine intelligence company based in San Francisco. Born in Ukraine, he immigrated to the U.S. as a child and grew up in the Philadelphia area. He completed undergraduate degrees in biology and computer science at Carnegie Melon University before moving to the Bay Area to complete a Ph.D. in bioinformatics at UCSF.

Following his postdoc, Dr. Apeltsin joined the small, early-stage startup that ultimately grew into Primer. In the years since, his work has primarily focused on natural languages and AI, notably resulting in a patent for automated summarization.

As Senior Director of Studies for EDeeU Education, Dr. Apeltsin focuses on helping students learning Bioinformatics, Natural Language Processing and Data Science.

This evening Dr. Apeltsin will be speaking as part of the EDeeU Education Seminar Series on how semi-supervised learning can reveal interesting structures in data sets. His talk will be accessible for non-specialists while also having something to offer experts.
