Celeste and Danielle sat with Embarrassing for No Reason Podcast to dive deep into Virgin Island, Somatica, and the signature experiential methods that’s made waves in the UK!

A central part of Somatica’s work is helping people explore s*xuality from a place of safety, curiosity, and nonjudgment.

Many people have been taught to narrow their understanding of s*xuality into a small set of acceptable identities, desires, behaviors, or relationship structures. But real s*xual self-discovery often requires more spaciousness than that.

When people are supported without shame, they can begin to understand what genuinely resonates for them. They can explore identity, attraction, turn-ons, boundaries, and erotic expression in ways that feel more honest and self-connected.

This is especially important because desire is deeply individual. What feels exciting, meaningful, or intimate for one person may be completely different for someone else.

The goal is not to direct people toward one “right” way of being s*xual. It is to help them discover what is true for them and feel supported in that truth.

For many people, formal s*x education focused almost entirely on prevention and risk.

That information matters, but it is far from a complete education in s*xuality.

Most people were never taught how to understand pleasure, communicate desire, build emotional safety, explore boundaries, or develop intimacy in a way that feels connected and human.

In the absence of that education, many turned to p**n as a reference point. While p**n can be one expression of s*xuality, it offers a very limited view of what s*x can look like and often does not teach the relational skills that real intimacy requires.

This can leave people feeling intimidated, inadequate, or unsure of how to begin.

A more complete approach to s*xuality includes pleasure, communication, embodiment, consent, desire, and connection.

That is the education so many people were missing.

Celeste Hirschman, M.A. and Dr. Danielle Harel bring decades of experience in human s*xuality, relationship coaching, and experiential learning to the work they teach through Somatica Institute.

What makes Somatica distinct is the belief that s*x and relationship skills are not only intellectual. They are relational, embodied, and practice-based.

People can understand a concept and still struggle to communicate, repair, ask for what they want, or stay present during intimacy. That is why experiential training is so essential.

This work supports a wide range of people, from those with little or no intimate experience to couples who have been together for many years and want to deepen their connection.

Wherever someone is starting from, the goal is not to hand them a script for intimacy. It is to help them develop real skills for communication, connection, repair, and erotic aliveness.

So many people have been taught that s*xual confidence comes from looking a certain way.

Having the “right” body. Moving the “right” way. Being desirable according to some outside standard that was never designed to help people actually feel good in their bodies.

But s*xual confidence is not something you achieve by looking perfect.

It is something you feel from the inside.

It grows when you can stay connected to your own desire, your own turn-ons, and your own sense of what feels good or does not feel good in the moment.

That internal connection is what allows you to speak up, ask for more, slow something down, or say no when something is not right for you.

Confidence is not about performing s*xiness for someone else.

It is about being present enough with yourself to let your own erotic energy guide you.
