⚠️ Air Quality Advisory: wildfires in northern California continue to produce smoke, which is being transported southward towards the Bay Area and may cause hazy conditions Wednesday, especially in the North Bay. At surface level, onshore winds are expected to keep air quality in the Moderate category.

A Alert for smog has been issued for tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 5, in addition to the air quality advisory for smoke that is in place through Monday, Sept. 6. Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Limit driving to reduce air pollution. Air quality advisory for the SF Bay Area: 9/2/21 and 9/2/21.

Air Quality Advisory: wildfire smoke is predicted to cause hazy skies across the Bay Area on Thursday, 9/2, and Friday, 9/3. Air quality is not expected to be unhealthy, but smoke may mix to the surface at times causing intermittent and isolated pockets of elevated pollution levels.

Wood smoke produces fine and ultrafine particulate matter. Inhaling fine particles can cause and worsen lung diseases, as well as diseases of the brain and cardiovascular system. Fine particle air pollution comes from multiple sources, but in the San Francisco Bay Area, wood burning is the single largest source during colder months.
