Dear friends and family,
In less than two weeks, I will be back teaching, renewed in my love for impacting lives. I once thought I had reached a plateau of passion and purpose. Now I feel like a newborn, opening my eyes to the light of day for the first time.
From food to the simplest conversations to the feel of the sun on my face, I experience everything with meaning. I do not want to spend one breath or second of my new life on anything negative.
The importance of what I do is loud and clear. It tells me I have been given a new lease on life, and the question is clear: what will I do now?
Life doesn't just have meaning; it means so much. My emotions are so big; my heart feels like it is going to burst wide open. Thank God for the new plumbing.
I tell my wife, "I love you," over and over, as if I am saying it for the first time. Each time I do, I believe love is how I need to live life.
I've never had a good filter, and I tell people what I see and believe. Now, that filter is nearly non-existent, as I speak with total conviction. It's like that scene in "Rocky 3," where Apollo Creed tells Rocky there is no tomorrow. I profess to everyone I connect with that today is all you really have, so make the most of it.
My sense of calm wants everything done now. I have to remind myself that there are only twenty-four hours in a day, and I still need to sleep. I need to trust that another tomorrow awaits me if I can turn off my mind and rest. Fortunately, my recovering body will have none of it, and naps are still the norm at times.
It feels like I am riding a bike down a steep hill. You know that if you put on the brakes, you are going to eat it, something bad. The best choice is to keep going until the ground levels out, and you can safely stop. Coasting has its merits.
I want to run so badly, but I understand that at this point in my recovery, a brisk walk is a better choice. This reality humbles me and challenges me with a discipline I'm not used to. I embrace it with silent protest.
For me, I believe God is in control. I surrender my self-will and ask for peace when I am impatient. Faith is trusting I am right where I am supposed to be today. I am grateful for God's love and mercy. It is the greatest blessing in my life.
Thank you for allowing me to share my heart with you. It is present in every class, event, life skill, and teaching at One Martial Arts. It began with a young boy who started martial arts at age five. Today, it lives on through our instructors and team. They do it their way, but my heart often beats with theirs as they make a difference and impact lives.
I look forward to seeing all of you real soon. As always, I promise to give you my heart as I serve our friends and family.
Live your best life,
Professor Brannon Beliso
