Finals were made a little less stressful thanks to a visit by Fifi and Henry, two emotional support standard poodles, supervised by Dr. Lisa Harpenau. Students enjoyed some pleasant moments in their company in between exams!

(IPE) is vital to our students’ journey toward becoming collaborative, patient-centered health care providers. These shared learning experiences build the mutual understanding, respect, and communication skills essential for delivering safe, effective, and team-based care.

Over the years, the School of Health Sciences has provided students with IPE experiences in collaboration with other schools at Pacific, like Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy. With the launch of the , IPE at Pacific will become even more robust, allowing graduate students to collaborate and learn alongside MD students. 🏥

Elvira Fiorentino ’98, dental educator, leaves legacy of compassionate care 05/17/2026

The University of the Pacific community mourns the passing of Elvira Fiorentino, a proud Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry alumna and a professor and group practice leader in the Department of Clinical Oral Health Care. She was 57.

Elvira Fiorentino ’98, dental educator, leaves legacy of compassionate care Elvira Fiorentino ’98, a faculty member and alumna of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry who helped expand access to dental care in the community, died April 26 in Petaluma, California.
