QUESTION: You often say, "Look at ALL your options" before you discard. Can you elaborate on that?
ANSWER: Absolutely. Start by not seeing your hand as having only one path to Mahjong. Before you discard, ask yourself, "What else can this hand become?" Can your tiles work towards a Chow or a Pung, or move toward a Half Flush? Keep the tiles that give you choices and discard the ones that don't. And keep your options open long enough for the answer to reveal itself.

The temps are starting to come down. Whether you like outdoor play or indoor play, we have it all. There are 15 social play opportunities this week! Check out the calendar on our website for all the information. The best tile is the one that brings people together. Happy Mahjong-ing. 😃

DON'T RUSH TO CLAIM.
Just because you can claim a discarded tile doesn't mean you should. Before calling, ask yourself these questions.
🔸Does this improve my hand significantly?
🔸Does it support my scoring plan?
🔸Is revealing part of my hand worth giving up flexibility?
Sometimes the strongest move is simply saying, "pass."
